Macro photography - New Satellite Dish?

This is how the ball head of my tripod looks like. Shutter was set at 0.8s and aperture at f/2.8. This is the biggest aperture I can get for my little camera. Hmm, this thing does have a passing resemblance to the ion cannon at the battle of Hoth.
