Donate for HobbyCon 2008
Alms for the poor... alms... aiks
Anyway, ClickStartPlay is organising HobbyCon 2008 some time in December 2008, and is in need of funds.
For the uninitiated, Hobbycon is short for Hobby Convention. It is to showcase the various hobbies that one can indulge in. Usually the focus is on Tabletop games and a few others which you can find out from here.
If you want to support Hobbycon2008, please follow the link on the left of the page or the one above and the rest of the details will be explained after the jump.
Any amount is not too small :D

DOTA tourney 2008 at KAC
I went to Kompleks Asia City last Sunday (henceforth KAC for brevity) to do other stuff, but bumped into a Defence Of The Ancients (DOTA) tournament organised by SabahGamers. You can read more here, but my mission was to take pictures :D
The crowd wasn't that bad... you can still move around, but some of them are not moving because they're too busy observing the gamers in action:

They even set up two LCD projectors to show the crowd what was happening on one computer from each team who were on the stage duking it out:
A couple of friends were also involved in the events in conjunction with the DOTA tournament, namely Dizzy and Ki-chan :D They were promoting the games at the myRosso booth.
Managed to get a snapshot with them, after they tried to get me to buy the Nostale game goodie bag for RM5 I think. Unfortunately, I can't read Chinese, or else I might give this game a try :P

There were a few booths here selling online games. Here you can see some gamers trying hard to win a prize:
And who can forget about these:

OK, more whacky pictures later... when I'm not too lazy.

Another Life day 9 shoot
I skipped Day 8 because of Lousy Photo Syndrome :P
Day 9 was the last day of shooting, and it took up the whole of Sunday last week (20 July). First up were the shots in City Mall:
According to Shaz the Director, part of the condition of allowing the shoot inside City Mall (Vedablu ice cream shop to be exact) was to get an exterior shot of the front entrance. Free advertising lah konon :D
Here is one of the scenes shot inside the shop that we pinjam:
I shoot you, you shoot me:
Which then was punctuated by a HobbyCon Meeting in Kompleks Asia City (change of location). This was not part of the movie shoot lah...
Later on we moved the shooting location to one of the cast's house:
"Dude, I'm not who you're looking for!"
"WAIT!!! You're not supposed to slap her, silly!!!"
(Note: No humans nor animals were harmed in the production of this movie)
"You hurt her! Now you're gonna get it!!!"
OK, after that shot in the evening, there was a small shoot in KAC, then everyone moved to City Mall for the final shoot. After wrapping the shoot in City Mall, everyone had a late supper in Pizza Hut, and you can see who were the hungry ones :D

(Whoops, this shot was still in Vedablu heh heh...)
Well, that's a wrap. Now all we have to do is wait for the post production to be complete and then we'll see the fruits of our labours.

Another Life day 6 shoot
I had to skip day 4 and 5 of the shoot because I wasn't feeling well, so let's continue on with Day 6, somewhere in Kompleks Asia City...
Mr. Director wants you (Yes, this means you!) to watch this movie when it is released:
A scene being shot:
Meet the Boom Girl:
Let him finish his cola in peace lah...

Another Life day 3 shoot
Day 2 was shot around Shaz's housing area, but nothing much really happened, so I'll just skip to Day 3 of the shoot.
Day 3's shoot consists of office scenes, so the set was at an office somewhere in the Taman Hilltop area.
More hijinks from the cast and crew:
Mr. Director adjusting the microphone boom:
Jna as an extra:
The protagonist (one of the versions, anyway):
Boss and confused protagonist: (oh ya, boss also kept messing up the lines, sorry...)

Chinyit and Irene's wedding day
Today I attended Chinyit and Irene's nuptials. These two lovebirds decided to officially tie the knot today because today is an auspicious day to get married (so says the soothsayers, heh heh).
The things started off last night when we (a few of us buddies) did a recon mission to scope out the bride's residence. It turns out that I knew that road pretty well since I've travelled along it many times previously.
OK, then the wedding day itself. I woke up, had breakfast and reached the groom's parents' residence at around 8.00 a.m. The rest of the "rombongan" was already there having breakfast but I didn't join in since I've eaten. Luckily I brought along extra batteries because the official photographer brought along a bum set of discharged batteries. Oh well, at least the alkaline ones I got from Fotomat didn't go to waste.
OK, went off for the bride's house at around 8.30 a.m. in slight drizzle. Yup the sky was shedding water. Upon reaching the bride's residence, the chief negotiator (Titi) went to work.
After a lot of haggling and haranguing, the bridegroom's party managed to get the doors opened, and we finally get to see the bride in all her finery. Oh man, flash is important in these kinda situations, and I brought along the best that I have :D the Canon 580EX II. There was also a tea ceremony for the bride's side before everyone went back to the groom's house (in this case, groom's parents' house).
We reached the groom's house before 11.00 a.m. which was the stipulated time to be back. I don't know, I think there was some calculations involved in getting the time and date for this.
So the newlyweds went up to the bedroom to cool off while waiting for the tea ceremony to be set up. I managed to get a few nice shots up there, heh heh...
Tea ceremony was quite short, because there weren't many people to serve. After that, the family photo session was conducted.
I'll update this with pictures once I'm done processing them.
